When a slaughtered and scalded bird is dropped inside the de-feathering machine, the plucker fingers will get rid of the feathers as the electric motor rotates and the body of the bird rubs against the fingers

The removed feathers come out at an opening below the machine. Within 5 minutes max, the feather removal process should have been completed. How to use the electric scalding machine in the poultry farm

1. Fill the water box of the scalding machine with water. Fill it up to half of the water box

2. Make sure to adjust the thermostat of the machine to “O” point

3. Plug in to the socket, then switch on the machine

4. Now, you can reset the thermostat, by turning the thermostat button to the desired temperature of between 80 to 90 degrees

5. The water will be heated. Once the water has been heated to the desired temperature displayed by the thermostat, dip in the already slaughtered birds into the water box and shake for few seconds

6. Once the wing feathers are easily pulled out, the scalding process is deemed completed


Precautions

1. Do not leave the bird in the scalding machine

2. Scald just moderately and long enough so feathers can be picked

3. Make sure you don't leave the birds in the water, so as not to cause the temperature to drop. It damages the skin of the birds

Directions for use

2. Dip the chicken in hot water to scald at 65 to 80 degrees. The temperature of the water is dependent on the toughness of the skin of the bird

4. The best time to turn off the machine is between 10 to 20 seconds, although this depends on the type of poultry and its skin toughness

Q: How hot should the water be for plucking chickens

A: between 130 to 170 degrees Fahrenheit, if you have plucked a chicken without scalding, you will be pleasantly amazed how easy birds pluck after a hot bath. The water temperature needs to be between 130 to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. For best results, use a thermometer to monitor the water temperature

Q: How long do you let a chicken bleed out

A: Place the chicken upside down in a kill cone like this (or a homemade version, like ours). Using a sharp knife, slit the artery in the throat (which runs right on the backside of the earlobe) and allow the blood to drain out and the chicken to die this usually takes around 30 seconds to 1 minute

Q: Does plucking a chicken hurt it

A: A bird who plucks their own feathers without intervention can cause themselves physical harm, including infections from open sores
